Maker Focus on … Me

In the Wild, a Maker Focus on Troy Bungart opens Tuesday, July 26 at Schaller Gallery. Please catch it online. It contains my most recent work with textures and sculpted elements that capture my delight in being able to live and work where wild things from woodlands and wetlands can visit me.

I appreciate the relationship I have with Anthony Schaller of Schaller Gallery and with his staff. Anthony is knowledgeable and helpful, a great mentor and a generous friend.

I experience a special excitement delivering pieces to Schaller Gallery. Anthony gives me feedback that helps me continue to strive for excellence. His reasoned critiques help me measure my contribution within the contemporary art pottery market.

I get tunnel vision while I’m in my studio. In a way, it’s a necessity. I’m focused on technicalities and with letting myself disappear into that creative head space where time disappears as work flows through my hands.

This week’s Schaller Gallery Maker’s Focus on my work once again blows me away. I can step back and really appreciate how others see my art. It’s gratifying. While I’m working I am always trying to infuse my pieces with the joy I feel in making them. When I see my work up on the gallery’s website I know I’ve succeeded!
