Basic Beginning Brushmaking Kit
Basic Beginning Brushmaking Kit for online workshop through Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft
This kit contains the more difficult-to-source materials* you will want to have if you intend to work along with me as I'm demonstrating.
Prepared bamboo for handles
A bundle of trimmed horse hair
A deer tail
A comb
Round toothpicks
Nylon upholstery thread
*See course material list for additional brushmaking materials you will need. These other materials are things you will likely already have at home or you can easily purchase locally or from your favorite online retailer.
The bamboo brush handles have already been selected for size, cut to a usable length and sanded to give you a head start on the brush making experience.
The deer tail is a great hair to learn the basics of brush head assembly.
The horse mane will provide a course hair that is good for making all-purpose scrub brushes.
The comb will be very helpful in organizing the hair and clearing out loose hair.
Upholstery thread is an ideal string for tying up brush heads because it is very strong and easy to handle.
Not in the photos but I will include some round toothpicks because they are my favorite for mixing small amounts 2 part epoxy.
