Come enjoy a one-day brushmaking workshop with Troy Bungart at Stan Simmons Studio on Tuesday, October 25 from 10a-5p.
Gather before 10 am so we can start with a visit to a nearby bamboo grove for a discussion on harvesting materials for brush handles and ferrules. (Dress for the weather and outdoor conditions. Bring garden gloves and sturdy shoes if you have them.)
Return to the Studio and watch Troy’s demonstrations then get started on a day of brushmaking! Stan has attended two of Troy’s brushmaking workshops, one being a week-long session at Penland, so both Troy and Stan will be able to help workshop participants with questions.
Troy will have plenty of materials on hand, including a variety of fibers. Most participants leave a one-day workshop with a handful of homemade brushes.
Bring a lunch or bring cash for lunch. Stan’s wife, Lisa, will have take out menus for nearby restaurants (Chinese, hamburger and Jersey Mike’s) and she will do a lunch run in the early afternoon.
